Palomar Mountain, CA – April 22, 2025 – Sequoia Sentinels and Kitchen Armor Partner to Plant a New Grove of Sequoia Trees on Palomar Mountain to Celebrate Earth Day
Sequoia Sentinels, a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to the planting, conservation, and restoration of sequoia groves, and Kitchen Armor (kitchenarmor.com), the leading kitchen automation manufacturer and consulting firm for the hospitality industry, have joined forces to start a new grove of giant sequoia trees in an effort to improve the local ecosystem and to help spread these magnificent but endangered trees.
Over a two-day period, a team of 10 Kitchen Armor employees prepared space for and planted 23 giant sequoia trees (Sequoiadendron giganteum). The team created swales and added drip irrigation to help the newly planted trees flourish in their first few years.
“We used this planting event as a company team-building event and ecological education opportunity for some of our employees,” said Mark LeMay, President and CEO of Kitchen Armor. “The location of the event on East Palomar Mountain is at an elevation of about 4100 feet, which is the ideal environment for the trees.”
"Sequoia trees are truly awe-inspiring giants," said Jim Hamerly, founder of Sequoia Sentinels, and Mark LeMay, CEO of Kitchen Armor, in a joint statement. "Planting these majestic trees helps restore our local ecosystem and creates a legacy for future generations. We are excited by our team and the community's interest in the environment and propagating these awe-inspiring trees."
